Grytøya

Do you wish to get a taste of the typical Norwegian countryside life? Head over to Grytøya in Harstad to get a complete island-life experience.
Out of the several islands that come under the Harstad Municipality, Grytøya has a lot to offer. Located at the north of Hinnøya, this island is surrounded by water inlets like Kvernsundet, Vågsfjorden, and Andfjorden. It spreads across 107.57 square kilometres, with Mount Nona being the highest point. One of the popular attractions here is the mountain Hattenfjellet where hiking and other guided tours are available. You can reach here via a ferry from Hinnøya, a part of the county road 8670 from Harstad. Other attractions on the island are Grøtavær Church and Lundenes Church, as well as Grytøya Bygdetun, where you will find a storehouse, barn, and agricultural tools.
