Take a short walk of less than 2 km from Harstad to reach the popular attraction called Folkeparken. The area is marked with trails for hiking, skiing, and biking with varying difficulty levels. It is nicknamed 'The People's Park' by the people of Harstad as it is the most visited recreational area in the city. Some of the salient features of this park are lakes and rivers with free fishing spots, shelters with wood, barbecue, fireplaces, forests with birch and fir woods, grazing area for cattle, and a picnic area with benches and tables.
The park also includes a Blueberry Mound with ski runs, biking trails, archery area, fish hatchery, and football pitches. During the winters, there are miles of ski runs and sledging places available in the area. Several patches of trails are made child-friendly, especially for younger children. Toilets can be accessed in the Folkeparken from 8:00 am to 10:30 pm every day.
